If you don't see the pattern right away, there is a way to make this easier on yourself. First write the addition arcs and then write the multiplication arcs. Because the same number is added in each step, you can see the pattern.
Tip: Write down the addition arcs immediately if you suspect that this pattern applies. Don’t try to solve the problem with mental arithmetic.
