Women are under-represented in science, but they are more under-represented in some areas of science than others. In the United States, for example, the proportion of women who have recently obtained a PhD in molecular biology and neuroscience is more than twice as high as in physics and computer sciences (there it is less than 20 percent). In the social sciences and humanities there are also major differences between disciplines: the share of women among recent PhDs in psychology and art history is more than twice as large as in economics and philosophy (in economics and philosophy it is slightly more than 35 percent).

Not true. The share of women among recent PhD graduates is 35% in economics and philosophy, but in psychology and art history this percentage is more than twice as high. This amounts to at least 70% and is certainly not underrepresentation.
