The sections of the Ixly assessment
Ixly has its own name for each section. This is what you may meet, and where you practise it here:
- Digit Sequencing: numerical-analytical insight: number series
- Figure Sequences: abstract-analytical insight: figure series
- Verbal Analogies: verbal-analytical insight: analogies
- Matrices: in the university-selection variant you get matrices instead of or next to the figure sequences: abstract matrices
- Logical Reasoning: drawing logical conclusions: syllogisms
Ixly also has a vocational (mbo) variant of the three core sections. Applying at that level? Start with the easy sets and work up; for higher-education roles the difficult set is the better yardstick.
What is different about Cognitive Ability Pro?
In the ACT you do three blocks in a row: first all digit sequences, then all figure sequences, then all analogies. In Cognitive Ability Pro the question type changes almost every question and the difficulty adapts to your answers; the test stops as soon as your level is established reliably, hence the roughly 15 minutes. Your score is compared with a norm group at your education level. For your preparation that means: do not only practise separate sections, but above all train switching between question types under time pressure.
Other components Ixly may use
Next to the ability test Ixly has, among others, Flow Charts (applying rules in a diagram), an in-tray simulation for planning skills, and questionnaires for personality and motivation. Questionnaires have no right or wrong answers and cannot be practised; honest and consistent answers work best there.

Do the free practice assessment first to find your starting level, then practise the sections above with the explanation per item, and finish with the full simulations under time pressure. Our practice tests mimic the question format and the time pressure; they are not copies of the real items.
