Example 2 / 3

Situational judgement

You are an administrative assistant at an insurance broker. Your manager, Erik, has asked you to send a list of renewal dates to forty clients by the end of today. Late in the afternoon you notice that the dates for about ten clients may have come from an old spreadsheet. Checking them properly would take about two hours. Erik is in a meeting until half past five and goes home straight after.

Rate each response: is it less effective or more effective?

Send the list to all forty clients today as asked, since Erik was very clear about the deadline.
Send the thirty dates you are sure of today, check the other ten tomorrow morning and let Erik know why.
Send the list without the ten doubtful clients and leave those for Erik to deal with when he is back.
Send all forty dates today with a line saying that some may be wrong and that clients should check them themselves.
